Cumbria has moved to tier 4 so sadly once again we have to shut the Horse & Farrier. We will however, continue with a takeout business Friday Saturday and Sunday initially and more if there is the demand.
We are so sorry that we have had to cancel our planned new year special meal and disappoint so many customers but we are sure everybody understands this is not in our control.
We hope with the vaccines available and the lockdown stopping the spread of the virus that we will return to normal in 2021 hopefully by Easter when we look forward to welcoming all our customers back.
In the meantime watch the website for updates and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.
We are delighted that we are able to re-open yet again and welcome back our valued customers. We are currently in a Tier 2 area and we are hoping to being moved into Tier 1 after the mid-December review due to the very low and declining infection rates here.
With the new Tier system in place we have some new rules to follow.
For Overnight Stays:
Our hotel is permitted to open unfortunately due to new restrictions guest from Tier 3 are not able to travel or stay in other areas of the country.
However, the government stated that existing travel restrictions will be relaxed during the Christmas period 23rd - 27th of December. So you can book and stay but no households can mix for meals
In our restaurant :
Households will are not allowed to mix indoors apart from in support bubble. However a maximum of six people from different households can meet outdoors as long as each person is eating you can have an alcoholic drink
Good news is that we are allowed to stay open till 11pm with last orders being called at 10pm although alcoholic drinks can be only served with a meal.
This week is the 5th anniversary of Storm Desmond which washed away the bridges and the wonderful walk from Keswick to Threlkeld which so many of you enjoyed.
After years of work and £8m of expenditure the pathway from Keswick to Threlkeld re-opens this week. So you can walk all the way from Keswick to the Horse & Farrier along the new track, enjoy a well earned lunch and get the bus back into Keswick from our front door.
Due to recent Government announcement we will be temporarily closing our doors at 10pm on Wednesday the 4th of November. We plan to reopen in early December as per the current government ruling. We will update you with further information as and when we receive it.
A member of our staff will be contacting everyone who has a room or table reservation in order of booking dates.
We are delighted to introduce our new online ordering system from Mobo2Go.
This innovative system gives you the option to order food and drink via our website, and you can choose to collect and take away or enjoy in our Al Fresco dining area.
And it's so easy to use too - https://horseandfarrier.mobo2go.co.uk/mobile/
Together with Mobo2go, we worked behind the scenes to develop our app to provide our customers with an easier way of ordering when you are in our outside areas or at the Sally. We are giving customers the ability to pick their favourite dishes from our Al fresco Garden Menu using your smartphone or tablet in just a few simple steps and you don’t have to stand in the queue!
Enjoy a relaxed lunch or dinner, soaking up the stunning views of the majestic blencathra.
In these strange times you may not want to go out so often so you have the opportunity of placing your order from the comfort of your home for collection when you want it. So you can still enjoy a Farrier fish and chips or Sunday lunch at home.
Of course, you can still book a table in our restaurant and enjoy table service or you may wish to escape for a night or three and stay with us. We are very much open for business.
The Horse And Farrier will open its doors at 12pm on Saturday 4th.
New Procedures to keep you and the staff safe have been introduced and will be available on the web site later this week.
As of Monday 29th our takeaway menu will go on hold to give the head chef Jose and his team time to train his team and get ready for our relaunch including new menus.
One of our new menus is the Garden Menu, is planned for the outside areas. We plan to make everything from that menu available in take out packaging. It will be available to order by phone and coming soon, online with collection allowing for a few minutes preparation time. We aim to offer advanced ordering with specified pickup time in the future.
It is advised to book as we are filling up quickly.
It has been a tough week for everyone, and it is with sad hearts that we must close the Horse and Farrier and The Sally. This is a heart breaking decision, but it is one that we have had to make by government instruction.
Our upmost priority is to protect our loyal guests, the Horse and Farrier and Sally teams, and our families at home. Unfortunately, we are cancelling all bookings until 1st June 2020.
To be clear: we have had no suspected cases of Coronavirus, either from our guests or our team. We have been rigorously enforcing all the government guidelines indeed going above and beyond. We are devastated to have to shut a business which has run 24/7 for 365 days a year for as long as anyone can remember!
However – we will still supply food on a carry out basis - so down but not out
Whilst we deal with the uncertainty of coronavirus, I wanted to update you on the precautions we are taking to ensure that our restaurants, bars and guest rooms remain a safe space for our guests and employees to enjoy over the coming months.
As always in our five star kitchen, our restaurants, our bars and our guest rooms we maintain the highest possible level of hygiene.
Our team has been fully briefed with current government requirements and are undertaking extreme levels of health and safety procedures to ensure that guests and other staff members are safe.
As you would expect all of our tables are appropriately cleaned when customers leave, all high touch areas are cleaned regularly with appropriate antiviral solutions including menus taps door handles and bedroom equipment etc and of course all crockery cutlery and glassware is washed in high temperature commercial equipment. We have been kitted out with extra hand sanitiser so please feel free to make use of this during your time with us.
We want you to be able to get away from the crush of the bigger towns and enjoy the wonderful countryside around Threlkeld and to feel you can stay and eat with us in a safe environment.
We are delighted to announce that we are supporting Kong Summer Series 2020!!!
