About The Horse & Farrier Inn...

Within its thick walls the Horse & Farrier Inn has all that is expected of a village pub and lots more besides. Built in 1688, this traditional Lakeland Inn with slate flagged floors, beamed ceilings and open fires, retains all the character you would expect from a building with such a long history.

Situated at the foot of Blencathra in the beautiful village of Threlkeld, only 4 miles from Keswick. The Horse and Farrier has views across towards Skiddaw in the west and Helvellyn to the south, it really is a beautiful location to spend a few hours or several days.

For the last nine years, under the ownership of Ian Court, the Horse & Farrier has been dedicated to serving food and drink of excellent quality, amidst informal, attractive surroundings, where our customers can feel totally relaxed. We have received numerous awards and guide book recommendations which reflects the commitment of the Horse & Farrier Team to customer satisfaction.

Our comfortable Bed & Breakfast (B&B) guest rooms with amazing views and excellent facilities, make this the perfect place for a weekend "away from it all", or even a longer holiday. We now have extra guest accommodation at the Horse & Farrier Guest House.

The Horse & Farrier has received numerous accolades, being recommended by many leading guide books including the AA's Pub & Restaurant Guides. Our restaurant is renowned locally for the quality of its cuisine and our service is second to none.

We have ample car parking at both the front and side of the Inn, together with a small beer garden with magnificent views. There is also excellent wheelchair access and disabled toilet facilities. Well behaved dogs are always welcome at the Horse & Farrier.
